Katie Olerud, LAC is a Licensed Addiction Counselor specializing in addiction counseling at Northland Health Centers. She holds licensure as a Licensed Addiction Counselor and a DUI Seminar Instructor Certificate. Katie earned her bachelor’s degree in Addiction Counseling and Community Psychology from St. Cloud State University and is currently enrolled at the University of North Dakota pursuing a master’s degree in Community Mental Health Counseling. She has been practicing since 2022. Katie works with adolescents and adults who are struggling with substance use and commonly treats substance use disorders. She provides individual and group counseling, DUI seminars, and chemical dependency evaluations, and utilizes evidence-based approaches including cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and solution-focused therapy. Her care approach is person-centered and trauma-informed, honoring each client’s lived experience, strengths, and goals while collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to support recovery, accountability, and positive outcomes. Outside of work, Katie enjoys reading, spending time with her son and dog, family time, visiting the lakes, traveling to Red Lodge, Montana, and going on ATV rides.
